Rising Sun Car Show – Lincolnshire Showground – 26 & 27 May 2012

Often referred to as RSCS or just simply RS, Rising Sun Car show has been running since 2005. Originated in the Picturesque National Trust property of Nostell Priory at Wakefield the show was originally named Rising Sun Sunday, a one day gathering of some of the finest metal that the Japanese automotive market has on offer.

From old school, cool as hell Celica’s (above) to mental 4×4 creations….

… right through to the latest modified examples of Japan’s latest in technoligical perfection, as long as it’s Jap it’s more than welcome at RSCS!

In 2006 the original Show and Shine judges from the first show decided to get further involved, Martin & Natalie Bradshaw helped evolve the show into a ‘weekender’ – 2 days of laid back family friendly appreciation of car coulture.

2 succesful years later the show had successfully outgrown the dedicated area in the Nostell Priory grounds so a bigger venue was required! In 2009 RSCS moved from it’s Yorkshire Roots and with the help of new a partner Jay Oldknow a new home was setup at Lincolnshire Showground. With it’s grid layout, proper roadways and shower blocks it’s a great venue change welcomed by the weekend campers!

So thats the past, here we are in 2012 and we have been graced with the most awesome weather RSCS has seen. Clear blue sky’s and blaring sunshine with temperatures in the high 20′s, it’s safe to say everyone and everything in attendance was happy taking in the rays!

As you may have noticed, this year saw another change to the RSCS line-up - Promo Girls! For the first time in it’s history RSCS has promo girls, and I’m the lucky so and so that gets to spend the day walking around chatting to Sammy Jones (blonde) and Roxy James (brunette) - oh I mean taking photographs!! So let me show you some of the aforementioned photo’s.

This year it was much easier walking through the trade stalls, having currently moved away from Jap for a comfortable piece of Germany’s finest M range I wasn’t tempted by all the ‘I need that’ items on offer…

Of course there’s still that fun, laid back family feel of the show! The great lil fun fare providing more than enough entertainment for the younger generations.

One thing was for sure a pleasant sight… The numerous Rising Sun flags that were flying in the glorious sky!

Of course there’s the show and shine competitions going on throughout the day too! I’m not going to list all the results as they can be found on the Rising Sun Car Show Forum

But here’s a sample of the great standard of cars that were in attendance…

So that was Rising Sun Car Show 2012, another fantastic chilled weekend spent with new and old friends but this year a great suntan was added into the mix!
Unfotunately rumour has it that this could actually be the very last we see of RSCS – very saddening news in my opinion! I really do hope that a few tweeks here and there and with the backing of the Japanese car community we could see even bigger attendances and enable the show to enjoy a long future!

But I couldn’t sign off without a couple of special mentions! It’s always great to see Paul the DJ/MC during the weekend. Paul keeps the show and shine organised as well as providing great music and commentry of the ongoing shenanigans throughout both days! It was nice to bring him a couple of little treats…

And personally for me I would like to extend a huge thank you to Dawn Bullimore-Pyne and David Harper as well as the whole of the Celica Club UK. They took me under their wing with very welcoming arms, ensuring I had an awesome weekend! Drunken late night dodgem rides…. You have to try this!!
